Setup Questions

How do I install/run the program?

This section is devoted to the Setup tab within the application.

Check here to learn how to install the application on your mobile device.

What is the account?

The account is your identity on the TrollDrum site, your key to access certain functions as well as the groups, where you'll find the pieces currently available on through the system.

Accounts are free and very easy to create.

How do I create an account?

Open the Setup::Account view.

If you have already created a TrollDrum account, simply enter the username and password in the first two fields and tap the Save button in the upper right.

If you don't have an account yet, fill in the other fields, ensuring you enter a valid email address (it will not be shared or exposed on the site) and tap the Save button to create the account.

Assuming the username was not already taken, the account should now be created!

Why should I send feedback and how?

Your input is really important.

We want to hear from you in order to achieve a better understanding of what works for you, what's missing and what you'd rather do without so we can make TrollDrum the most usefull application on your device.

To make it easy to let us know what you think or of any problems you have encountered, the Setup::Feedback view was included right in the program.

Just head to Setup::Feedback, select the type of report you are making, enter your message and tap Send.

If you are submitting a bug report, please be specific about what you were doing, in which view, and what happened. Thanks!

What is Pull From TrollDrum for?

Pull From TrollDrum is used to retrieve data queued on the site and import it to your mobile device.

Tracks may be queued for import, through the Connector groups for download whenever you like.

When you are ready to bring these entries into your iPhone/iPod Touch, go to Setup::Pull From TrollDrum and tap Import Now.

When the data is retrieved from the server, you will be asked if these should be merged with existing content or created as new entries.

What are the Merge/New options when importing entries?

Pulling entries from the Connector does not overwrite your entire data set.

Since these entries are potentially joining other existing entries already present, the question is what to do about collisions. Collisions are cases where an existing entry and a newly imported one might refer to the same piece.

As a rule of thumb, if you are importing data from third parties such as from a group, you probably want to import as Merge. This will overwrite previously installed tracks, if they are present. In cases where you'd actually want multiple copies, say in different categories, then use New instead.

If you experience problems during merging, don't hesitate to tell us about it, with as many details as you can muster.

What is the Unfiled Cat?

The name of the default category.

Tracks always have a category set, so you can find them again through the program.

When TrollDrum is first installed, this category is named "Unfiled" but it can be named anything you like. The name can be that of an existing category. If the category doesn't exist and is needed, it will be created.

You can change the default category at any time. This can be usefull when deleting categories: for instance to move all the tracks from "Metallica", "Iron Maiden" and "Behemoth" to "Metal", you need only set the default category to Metal and delete the original three, specifying that you would like to Move the tracks instead of deleting them.
